The Hemiverse Shoulder Prosthesis is intended for use in hemi shoulder arthroplasty procedures with non-functional rotator cuffs.

The Hemiverse shoulder prosthesis is a glenoid bone sparing shoulder prosthesis, which is only anchored in the proximal Humerus. The unique Hemiverse™ solution combines the biomechanically and clinically proven reverse concepts with the surgical ease of a hemi prosthetic design. Its patented Dual

Center™ concept medializes and distalizes the center of rotation to allow compensation of rotator cuff deficiencies.  – Currently under clinical investigation

Indications

  • Cuff failure with associated shoulder destruction which would be suited for hemiarthroplasty.
  • Shoulder joint destruction in which known alternatives would constitute either a high patient risk or a high functional failure risk.
  • Shoulder destruction for which reverse total shoulder replacement would be a high risk for medical reasons (longer operation, more blood loss) or for advanced glenoid bone destruction

Contraindications

  • Systemic, medical conditions which according to internal medical and anesthesiological standards prohibit an open shoulder operation.
  • Local infection
  • Neuroarthropathy
  • Moderate to severe motor axillary nerve dysfunction
  • Moderate to severe destruction of deltoid muscle
  • Displaced fracture of the coracoid
  • Displaced fracture of the scapular spine or displaced fracture of the base of the acromion
  • Destruction of more than superior one third of the humeral shaft
